Perfect PTE Writing Score with New Structure | VLE
blog

Are you struggling with the PTE Writing section and wondering how to consistently score high? You're not alone. With Pearson introducing new structural expectations from 7th August 2025, it's more important than ever to upgrade your strategies. In this blog, I’ll walk you through how I used the new essay writing structure during a Pearson mock test and scored perfect marks—without spending hours thinking about ideas.

Why This Video Matters

We’ve launched another power-packed tutorial focused on essay writing in the PTE exam. I personally tested our latest structure in an official Pearson mock test and got perfect scores! That’s right—you’ll see exactly what to do, what to avoid, and how to score full marks in every question type. If you're new to Vision Language Experts and serious about your PTE preparation, make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel because I'll soon be sharing my real exam experience from the test I’m taking in Sydney on 7th August.

What’s New in PTE Writing?

Pearson is now penalizing pre-memorized content. This means templates filled with generic filler won't cut it anymore. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t use a universal structure—it just has to be adaptable with your own ideas. I tested this approach in a PTE mock test, and it proved that with the right structure and original input, you can still score full marks confidently.

What Worked for Me:

  • A flexible essay template designed to suit every essay type:
    • Opinion
    • Advantage/Disadvantage
    • Problem/Solution
    • Cause/Effect
  • Integrated your own input + keywords from the question
  • Length: Around 289 words, which is ideal for PTE Writing
  • Focused on quality over quantity

What I Did During the Mock Test

I attempted my sixth Pearson mock test, and here’s how I approached it:

  1. Skipped all Speaking, Reading, Listening modules
  2. Focused only on the Writing section
  3. Used pre-written answers from Version 1 mocks—not memorized, but structured with actual ideas
  4. Copy-pasted the content into the test to evaluate the effectiveness of the new strategy

Essay Prompt Example

Question:
“The means of communication in society today has changed markedly over the last 10 years. In your opinion, what are the positive and negative impacts of this change?”

With our new structure, I:

  • Used keywords from the question
  • Added original ideas
  • Ensured flow, coherence, grammar, vocabulary were all on point

📌 Tip: Even if it’s difficult to think of ideas quickly, don’t panic—our platform provides you with common essay topics, ready-made ideas, and fully developed answers you can personalize.

Summary Writing Strategy

We also applied the same technique to Summarize Written Text:

  • 2 summary tasks
  • First: 74 words | Second: 62 words
  • Remember: Word count doesn't matter as much as content quality
  • Focus on covering the main ideas concisely

Final Results

After completing the writing section using this strategy:

  • ✅ Got perfect scores
  • ✅ Validated the new structure works under Pearson’s updated scoring
  • ✅ Confirmed this approach is ideal for real exams post 7th August
